I'm glad to hear that the drag line is working so well for you. It is a good way to teach dogs of any age the rules of the house.

Thank you for your advise regarding the drag line to help prevent Shrek from stealing shoes. I have been using one on him. It helps me keep track of him better. I am able to stop other problem behaviors as well such as excessive barking. He is slowly learning.

Use your drag line to help keep track of Shrek. Tie him to you if thats what it takes to keep him out of trouble. Then use the leash to correct him if he goes for a shoe in front of you. Prevention is the best solution. If you can keep him out of trouble for a long enough amount of time you will break his bad habit. So work on preventing him from stealing the shoes in the first place. If he does get a shoe then scold him and give him a jerk release on the collar. This lets him know that you are not happy with what he did.

Shrek is stealing shoes. He hides with them and chews on them. I think he knows he is not suppose to chew on them since he hides when he gets one. When we catch him with a shoe we scold him and take it away. What else can we do?
